The Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) wanted to create an interactive app for 18 to 24 year olds to inform them where to find support for mental health issues. The app needed to be accessible on multiple devices, available on the SAMH website, App Store and Google Play.
Having discussed the complexity of the project with SAMH, it was clear that their available budget would not stretch to full app implementation. Instead we presented an alternate idea – an interactive email campaign linking to the SAMH site, accessible to all. Once on the site, visitors were met with an interactive game to emphasise the campaign message ‘help a family put their lives back together after a suicide’. Built in HTML5 for desktop and mobile this simple game created a hard-hitting but engaging message for all visitors.
The campaign highlighted the impact on those left after suicide. Donations increased by 72% in February 2013 compared to the same period in the previous year. With 82% of visitors accessing the website using mobile devices our decision to use HTML5 was very effective as our game was played on various devices. A great example of us tailoring technology to your needs.
