Congratulations Mark Beaumont!

Mark Beaumont has just completed an epic journey, #AfricaSolo, cycling over 6200 6718 miles (10,812km) solo from Cairo, Egypt to Cape Town, South Africa in 42 days 41 days 10 hours and 22 minutes!

He’s braved high winds, cycled the worst road in the world, conquered epic mountain routes and achieved this solo with no support vehicle, trainer or medical team. And on top of all this he has smashed the current world record by 18 days!

It’s the type of raw personal achievement Mark thrives on and I’m very proud to have been a part of this from start to finish. Whether it was a text mid morning from Mark to post updates to his social channels, keep the web site ship shape so everyone could see his progress live or catching up with Una (Marks mum) to help with any digital needs, it’s been an absolute joy to help and be involved.

And it’s an adventure that’s caught the imagination of tens of thousands of people on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. In fact it’s a great lesson in social media where content is king and to give your audience what they’re there for, which in this case is Mark cycling through far flung places and pushing the human body to incredible feats of endurance.

So a huge cheer and congratulations to Mark from Ping – YOU DID IT! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!
